Went up to Whangarei to the old Folks home on Fri night and then I buggaed off with The Boy to Mangaraho on Sat Morning, Started up at 08:30 we only did one route, "The West Ridge" 60m, first pitch was a 14 and that was ok and then the second pitch we had a choice of 4, a 16, 15, 17 and 16. I tried to start the 16 straight up and Piked as getting to high with no placement, grovelled around trying to find the 15, ended up tuning a 2 pitch climb into 4 pitches.

But we had a lotta fun and it took 2 abseils with double ropes to get down from the Trig
(we could have walked off but where's the fun in that).
So at 15:00 we're at the bottom and The Boy remembers he left some gear at the Trig.

Round trip to the Trig and back by the Track is just under an hr, we had lunch and fluids first and then set off. One Cam and all my big hexs just sitting there. Geeees Boy.

I got back to the retirment home and I get Grumped at "said I would be back mid afternoon" and bowled in at 6, only did one climb though, 2 if you count the track up to the trig. Women .....
